Hi! I have been taking hidroxicloroquine and prednisolone for 3 years but my gama GT levels are too high. From 40 in June 2019 , 104 in December 2019 and 250 at the moment. I don't drink alcohol anymore and gave up Topiramate so that my liver has less medication to process. Has anyone gone through a similar situation? Can it be liver fatigue because of my lupus medication? Thanks.

Liver issues
Hi Margas, I was on pred and placquenil and methotrexate but so far my liver has been ok. I am due to have more bloods done next week. I have had to stop placquenil because of retinal toxicity, am now on 6 monthly rituximab. I did have liver problems with leflunomide, so that turned out to be a no go. I would have a good discussion with your GP And Rheum about what it means and what is best done about it, if anything at this stage. It is always a balancing act, benefit vs risk. Make sure you get your say in any discussion. Good luck.
Hi, I was told liver function has to be good before being allowed hydroxachloraquin as a treatment, infact, I had to have liver function tests first. I would be asking prescribing doctor if it is still safe to be on the medication, better to be safe, and ask those important questions.
Take care.
