Granuloma Annulare? Mis diagnosed rash? Anyone else?

Hello,

Hope you’re all well, managing symptoms and keeping safe.

I was just wondering if anyone else had this experience... I’ve had all the symptoms of lupus the past 2 years, my bloods have shown inflammation, and a weakly positive Ana, then fluctuates, to normal and raised.

Rhuemy said this ain’t enough to diagnose so wants to biopsy a rash I get.

The dermatologist had diagnosed it as granuloma annulare just from looking at it, and will “eventually” do a biopsy but isn’t in a rush even though my rhuemy and gp think this could help with diagnosis.

I under stand it looks similar, but I also think it looks like a discoid rash

Thanks in advance xxx

Just seen your post. Been awhile since I been on site. I too had a rash, itched, red places size of tip of lil finger came up across back of neck, all the way across neck, shoulders going up in hairline behind ears. My rhematologist checked it sent me to dermatologist and she replied I had granuloma annular. She did a biopsy and it was confirmed. Gave me Clobetasol gel...which last longer than cream.. that has steriods in it which helps the itching. Small tube a lil expensive but can substitute for triamcinolone cream which is much cheaper. She told me to stay out of sun wearing hat over head, long sleeves, long paints, and gloves on hands. Put sunscreen on face when out. I love working in my yard an flowers and Georgia heat can be over 100! If I don't cover neck, shoulders, etc., the red blisters pop up, itching bad. Even the sweat causes me to itch. Staying in AC being cool an no heat or sun has helped tremendously. Small places still pop up, itch an the steriod cream makes it go away. Had this for three years now. Your dermatologist needs to sample while the rash is ongoing to get a proper diagnosis. I too have a positive ANA that would fluctuate from yes to no but now strong positive. My blood also has inflamation in arteries which can cause a heart attack. Going for pet scan next week. Rhematologist said we might get a true diagnosis of an auto immune disease, he's been testing me for. The scan can give answers with the place in lung and anurysm in aorta. Sending prayers for better health. Sometimes you have to push some doctors, so be nice but firm in getting your biopsy done. They are not the ones suffering, you are. God bless.
