How does anyone modify computer use when sitting in front of screen gives you a lupus rash. Also does it make you feel unwell
Hi Claire, I’m so sorry to hear about your issue with computer screens. I have this problem. I turn down the brightness to the lowest I can bear. Use the smallest of my devices, if my eyes aren’t too tired, wear full sunscreen with makeup on top, and then a UV face mask on top. It has taken me years to realise this is what I must do. I’m working on a novel and write by hand then type it up and edit it so need to spend a lot of time facing a screen, sadly. I used to have a UV screen I could slip in front of the computer but it was fiddly and old and I left it behind in a hotel last year and it couldn’t be found. They are fairly expensive. I’d be interested to hear what solutions other people have found.
Thank you for your reply Cathyan. It is such a problem for me and good to discuss some solutions. I am using sunscreen and reduced brightness too. I haven't thought of a UV screen - do you think it worked? I was wondering if messing around with the colour settings would help but I don't know what I am doing. I am told blue light is bad but don't know whether this is correct. Perhaps there is a techie with this issue who would have a suggestion? Good luck with your novel. Meanwhile I am trying to reduce my computer use as I think apart from the burning and itching it is making me feel unwell.
Hi clare,
I have the same problem not only with computer screen but also with bright tv screen. I have found turning the blue light filter on together with the night time mode at all times really helps tremendously. I used to get severe headaches and feel completely spaced out after just a few minutes of using my phone/ computer. If u have an old computer that does not have blue light screening than u can get a filter that sticks onto the screen, amazon has a range of them. I found just turning down the brightness did not resolve the problem. Also with the tv its the back light that causes the problem. I made sure that i purchases a tv with manual back light control so i can turn it down manually.
Hi Clairedown ,
There are some products, such as filters, that can help with this. You can find some advice and recommendations at the bottom of our webpage here - lupusuk.org.uk/eclipse/prod...
