I hope this post finds you as well as possible. It's rather hot here, a bit like the Mediterranean!
I'm posting a very happy update about 7 year old Dashπ. As many of you might recall she was a very poorly little person not long ago with Corona virus, stuck in rural Wales and no OOH help. Scarey times. Horrible. Thank you so much to all of you who sent kind messages either privately or on the forum.
Anyway, she has bounced back with extra bounce and has really taken Lupus UK to heart. As a result she is desperate to help on World Lupus Day on May 10th by raising money. She's a switched on child and understands (to a childs level) that Lupus is a horrible disease and that services in Wales are somewhat poor to say the least. I thought her fundraising idea might be a bit of a childs whim, but she has proved me very wrong. She has been in training to do a 5K run on Sunday dressed as a butterfly. It will be a very hilly 5K run which makes it even harder. Not bad for a kiddo who was so poorly recently. She will be doing the run with her Mum who is going as an escort. Dashπ is determined to do this her way.
They are able to self-distance because their location is so rural that they only ever really see sheep.
She already has an LUK butterfly in her window and has been educating the rams apparently π.
Joking apart, this is one tough child who I am immensely proud of and so touched that she has taken LUK into her π.
I thought I would share this uplifting story with you all because I think she is a bit of an inspiration.
I've shared the details with Paul and with everyones permission I am going to post their justgiving page link, should anyone want to follow their progress or kindly donate. Please don't feel any obligation to donate, that is not the purpose of this post, it's more about the story.
Apparently they did a 4K run last Sunday to a local trig point and she did well but she has never done 5K in one go and is in training.
She is very excited to be helping others, to raise money, to wear her butterfly wings and to be eating the massive slab of cake that I have promised her when we next see each other!
Oh, oddly there was a computer glitch in the JG website so it says that they are doing in in Oct 2014. Obviously this is wrong and it's happening on Sunday and this is confirmed later on their page.
Thanks for reading if you've got this far. It really is a happy story I think.
Take care all

Dash sounds like a very extraordinary little person...just think...wow...what an extraordinary woman she's going to be.
Please can you give her a special thank you from this Lupus person. Willing her along for her 5k run and will happily add a donation in honour of her tremendous efforts.
Hi ht , fabulous story and I think dash is very inspirational as you do too. She's a very special lass wanting to help Lupus Uk so much. A big thank you to her and her Mum for Sunday and I hope it all goes well. Xx
Hi ht, I've just done a donation and it means Dash has reached her target of Β£250!. I'm sure you will all be pleased and the money will go up and up!. Xx
Misty that is so very generous of you. She will be over the moon when she wakes up tomorrow and sees that she has reached her target.
She actually has a rather big hill to run up to a trig point. It will be hard work but I know that she will do it. She will be encouraged by all the very kind donations.
I look forward to hearing how it goes on Sunday .I'm sure she will do well ht. She's such an inspirational child and i'll be thinking of her . take care Xx
What wonderful uplifting news to read here!! What a special Dash. How children can overcome what adults see as impossible, there is light of possibilities. I pray, and wish her the very best , with wings flapping, running for a cause. What a remarkable child. I am honored to have the privilege of knowing her through your postings. All my peace, and blessings to this dear one. Love, thestormy sunshine
Thank you, yes indeed, a very caring child. So far the little superstar has been sponsored Β£320! It's early to bed for her on Saturday night after a meal packed full of energy!
Dash by name, Dash by nature! What a superstar! A lovely story to share....Iβll be thinking of her on Sunday whizzing around the Welsh mountains in her butterfly wings! π¦ πββοΈ xx
