Thought I would share this article I received this morning in my emails. Cautious hope and thought some of you would be interested to know about it, especially since quite a number of us are already on one or both of the above meds. I take azithromycin due to bronchiectasis and repeatedly getting infections so right now I am very happy to be taking it!
Cautious but interesting article regarding hydrox... - LUPUS UK
Cautious but interesting article regarding hydroxychloroquine (and azithromycin)
I'd read that hydroxy was being mixed with something but didn't know what
Given that there is nothing else, you would think they might try it out pdq. Fingers crossed - because they are old and cheap - and big pharma might have a bit of difficulty cashing in.
Please be careful when taking both of these (HCQ + Azithro) together on a regular basis. It can cause pathogenic prolonged QtC. We are finding that many COVID pts cannot tolerate this combo as it causes arrhythmias which seem to be a major factor in mortality.
Please be careful and obviously discuss with your doctor. Azithromycin is working more as an pulmonary anti-inflammatory and not an anti microbial. You may find other meds that give you the same effect without the risk. The study that purports its efficacy is very small and very flawed. Clinical trials are currently being conducted to give us a better sense of what actually works.
I don’t take both. I only take the azithromycin. The point of sharing this was to show there are potential options around. I also said further research was needed at this time. It states that in the link too. No one is trying to take those drugs together unless it’s under the guidance of their doctor. If they are...they are not people I know or am aware of.
