Sounds like you have a superb clinician who picked up on important things through his exam. I can understand how it must feel scary to see “autoimmune disease.” Seeing it on the page makes it very real.

It certainly is not surprising as several of the doctors have been suspicious of an autoimmune process. You were most afraid of multiple sclerosis. It sounds like they are pretty sure you don’t have that. That is good.

It takes time for these illnesses to be diagnosable. You seem to be caught in an early stage, though you have not been well. The doctor did say you looked good clinically. That is very positive. He saw no signs of involvement of lungs, heart or anything worrisome. You have struggled for a long time. You are now in good hands. They do always need a precise diagnosis to help you.

Better days ahead for you, I hope.

I meant to say they do not always need a precise diagnosis to help you once they know it is an autoimmune process.
