Hi, I'm new here and could really do with some help please. Since 2012 I have tested positive for dsdna antibodies levels have been between 51 - 67 through out the years. I saw a rheumatologist between 2012 -2015 with symptoms such as achey body, tiredness, headaches and brain fog. I was told a possible connective tissue disorder could be developing but as my ana was negative there was not enough medical evidence to make a diagnosis. I was discharged from rheumatology in 2015 but have still had symptoms on and off. In September 2018 I went to my gp as I felt so awful again and she ran some tests. My ana cam back positive this time 1:160 and she referred me back to rhuematology. This week I received a phone call from the rheumatologist who advised I have tested positive for lupus as the ds dna test is positive again, but all other tests including ana is negative. During this phone call i was offered some medication but said I would rather wait and discuss at my next appointment in a couple of months. So I know that something is not right because I feel so awful but is there enough evidence here for me to be taking a medication such as Hydroxychloroquine? Has anyone been diagnosed with lupus on dna antibodies and symptoms alone? Would the positive ana test I had in September have any relevance? I am worried that I may end up taking a medication for something I do not have.
Any advise would be greatly appreciated.
