I was very recently diagnosed with subacute cutaneous lupus. Still confirming if I also have SLE, symptoms suggest so. On a good day not long a go, I tried cycling to hospital appointment. Man, was that a mistake. All part of my body in contact with the bike became very swollen (mainly my bum!). I guess because of the inflammation in my body currently, who knows! I would like to try and keep exercising as I am definitely putting on weight through inactivity and steroid use. What would you all recommend? Cycling seems to be out for now.

You can participate in a variety of aquatic exercises such as water aerobics or stretching in the pool to remain active without straining/putting pressure on your joints and muscles. We published an article on lupus and exercise which I hope will give you some ideas for new exercise techniques. You can read this article at lupusuk.org.uk/lupus-and-ex...
Remember to not push yourself too hard as it takes time for the body to ease itself into a new routine of exercise. It is advised to consult your GP or physiotherapist before undertaking new exercise regimes to ensure you can gain the most out of them.
