Hello. Are you new to this group? I’m afraid we aren’t doctors. Some of our members are former nurses. But otherwise we’re not medically trained and we’re not lupus experts - just lupus sufferers. Do you have a lupus diagnosis? Are these new symptoms? Can you discuss these symptoms with your doctor? We’ll try to help and guide you, but a little more info would help. Best wishes. Wendy
kivumbs, Are you newly diagnosed? Back in 03 when I first got sick, my legs were very wobbly and my walking gait was poor, thus the term wall walkers. I had to have my furniture arranged so I could have something to hold on to through the whole house. You can make them better. Exercise really helped me. I stretched those leg muscles and finally, most of the poor gait went away. My legs still ache sometimes, but despite the pain, I do the exercises and it truly helps. Good luck to you. MsGelfling
Hi Kivumbs,
Welcome to the LUPUS UK HealthUnlocked Community!
As Wendy39 mentioned, we are not medically qualified on this forum however, we do our at most best to provide any help and support we can.
Have you discussed your symptoms with your GP or rheumatologist?
If in doubt, it is always worth speaking to your doctor about the symptoms you are experiencing as he/she can provide you with the correct advice and treatment. Also, the doctor may refer you to a specialist such as physiotherapist or pulmonary specialist if required (for breathing difficulties).
Lupus can affect the joints and muscles in the body, we published a factsheet on ‘LUPUS: The Joints and Muscles’ which you can read here: lupusuk.org.uk/wp-content/u...
Regular strengthening exercises can help maintain the strength of the muscles and help to increase function. To find out more, you can read our blog post on ‘Exercising with Lupus’ here: lupusuk.org.uk/lupus-and-ex...
