Today I had an optician appointment as I felt my vision had decreased and I was right. Two new pairs of glasses one for distance and one for reading and quite a change from a year ago. Nothings ever straight forward is it. Next appointment with the doctor what’s how no to come up there?

Hi Tinkerjack1912,

Around a third of lupus patients have some sort of eye related matter. We published a factsheet on ‘LUPUS: The Mouth, Nose and Eyes’ which I hope will be of help to you: lupusuk.org.uk/wp-content/u...

It is important to remember there are many ways that eyesight can be affected; regular eye checks can help prevent eye complications from occurring.

According to The Lupus Encyclopedia, people who take hydroxychloroquine for more than 7 years can have a 1% to 3% chance of developing hydroxychloroquine retinopathy. However if detected in early stages, usually no symptoms occur. Hydroxychloroquine retinopathy is rare.

It is a little worrying. The chance put me on years checks. They were very good. Ive been wearing glasses since I was about 11 and have only had minor adjustments and this time there is quite a big change. X
