I have been Taking hydroxychloroquine for about 2 weeks. first two days I couldn't get warm and so tired. I have persevered for as long as I can but I am going to make an appointment with g.p. tomorrow. my I.b.s. had flared up again. my stomach makes growling sounds all the time. when I get the urge to go to the toilet and I am out somewhere, i have to sit down and let the pain pass or I would have an accident. when I need to go, I know I should but not always near a loo when out. I have also had a few headaches, struggled to keep warm which usually I am always hot lol. I need to get this sorted as I have been told to change the brand of hydroxy on here. I just hate going to the docs as I feel I am being looked upon as a hypochondriac at times. anyone else have problems with Quinoric. the last point is that if you don't swallow the tablet quick enough, you taste an awful taste which you can taste for a while. awful.

yuk. I am going to go to g.p. as so many people on here do not get on with Quinoric. they have given me another brand to ask for. Thank you for replying. do you still take Quinoric?
Hi, I take Quinoric and generic hydroxychloroquine, depending on what the pharmacist has in stock. Both are intensely bitter. I found it aggravated my gastritis for the first few weeks, but this settled down (I also take lansoprazole), and I haven't noticed any difference between the two varieties.x
I first started on hydroxy in march and the Quinoric tasted awful. Then my pharmacy gave me some film coated pills which are so much nicer to take and seem gentler on my stomach. I ensured I got these again on my recent prescription with my pharmacy. There known as zentiva and the product license number is PL 33271/0001. Ask your pharmacy to get these in for you.
I saw a recent post on here saying Quinoric is the cheap brand of hydroxy and most Lupus suffers struggle on this brand.
yes I have been told this by a few people on here but been to g.p. a lot lately and they treat me like a hypochondriac I have had a bad day with my stomach today so I am phoning g.p. in the morning to get an appointment and ask for what you have said about taking. Thank you.
Don't let anyone treat you like a hypochondriac! Stand your ground and no matter how hard be assertive, research and trust how you feel.
Over 20 months I've felt so ill and tearful initially diagnosed with Hashimotos then in march Lupus and now myositis. Even friends look at me thinking I look ok even quite well on some days if I've managed to do my hair shower and put make up on to feel better! But just goes to show I am sick and have been for a while.
I've thought I've been going mad at times like when my Rheumy looks at me an just nods as if I'm making it up! But finally bloods MRI and my symptoms all prove what I was saying. So have faith and be persistent we all deserve to be investigated, consultants need to be thorough and all get the help and treatment we need ❤️
Keep going, they need to listen to people, when I was taking quinoric I couldn't get out of bed. My nurse said to ask for the branded Plaquinil, when I told the G.P. she said ' they are expensive you know'. Trust your instinct xx
I have been taking Quinoric too for almost a year now
I agree with you about the bitter taste when swallowing it . I tend to drink lots of water with it but still u have to squint your eyes taking it
In regards to IBS flare up , it tends to do that and it will settle . I found it help to. take omeprazole before meals and the Quinoric after to reduce IBS flare up
Strangely when I take quinoric I get hot flushes at night
I hope u will feel better after review with you GP
Many people have apparently experienced stomach issues with the Quinoric brand. I was told that the Zentiva brand is exactly the same formula as the original Plaquenil so my GP writes details of that on my prescriptions and Boots can always get it, although it has to be ordered and takes a couple of days. If you go to the Lupus UK website, and put 'hydroxychloroquine prescriptions' in the search box, it will take you to a page that explains it all and it also tells you exactly what the GP should write on the prescription to get the Zentiva brand.
