Alcohol and chest pain

I've never been a huge drinker anyway but I do like to have a couple of cocktails whilst out with friends but as I learned last night alcohol seems to hit me a lot harder than it used to.

Then when I woke up this morning I had a sharp stabbing pain in the left side of my chest every time I took a breath in.

It might not be related and timing could just be a coincidence but has anyone else experienced this?

Hi Athens

I don't want to be a party pooper but alcohol and our drugs don't really mix. I think alcohol should be avoided if your on MTX.

As to your chest could well be just a coincedence but if it gets worse it should be checked out by your GP. Lots of reasons why we can get it. If it really intensifies and your breathing gets worse then it should be A&E!. Good luck tomorrow for your dermatology appt, hope it goes well. Keep us posted. X

Alcohol can can cause you to pass out and sleep heavily and perhaps you feel asleep in an awkward position and pinched a nerve or muscle.

However if the pain continues you should see a doctor lest it be somethongore serious like an ulcer which can also be aggravated by alcohol or a heart issue.

Sounds like pleurisy. I get it with flare ups
