back on plaqunil

So the doc took me off plaqunil and referred me to a hematologist for low white blood count and now I am back on it because they think the lupus was causing the low white count. Anyone experience this?

I'm waiting to see a hemotologist also for low white count

I'm still on plaquinil and they think the low count is caused by this but not sure. If so I have to come off it

Hi jenny , my white cell count was low before I started on any treatment and the level didnt change when I started plaquenil. It hasnt been low enough to need haematology referral , but i do go through phases when i have one infection after another. I hope you are able to get answers xx

Yes, but once I got on plaqunol they never took me off. I once went 3 months w/o prescription and docs were upset

Years before I was diagnosed I had WBC so low they put me in the hospital in reverse isolation . I had high fever and was very sick. They said it was a virus but in hindsight was probably the beginning of the lupus. I have not had any problems with the hydroxycloriquine causing low WBCs. I hope I don't because it's a godsend. I hope yours will rebound on its own as mine did. It's a tricky business the risk versus benefit of all these Meds. Take care. Nan
