I had that prescribed for pericarditis. The first time I used it it gave me no symptoms but the second time it gave my painful calves' muscles, so I stopped it.

I never heard of periodic fever syndrome, is it autoimmune?

Thanks. I'm a bit worried about the side effects but will give it chance and see how it goes!

Periodic fever syndrome is a very rare auto inflammatory condition apparently. I don't know too much about it. I am still undergoing tests but it has been prescribed in the mean time to see how I respond to it.

Keep an eye on the muscle pain. If it gets excruciating, go to the hospital.

But it is generally well tolerated. Your blood count might get a bit off while you're on it but not majorly, just bear in mind that it could be a cause.

Good luck with the testing. This forum is great, we learn new things every day. Thank you for sharing.

Hi Jessie

Interesting diagnosis you have been given!. I am taking Colchicine at a low dose for pericarditis and have had no side effects, just benefits. Fingers crossed your the same. X

Hi misty. I haven't actually been given the diagnosis yet. I am somewhat of mystery and being tested for several things. The medication is a kind of trial to see how I respond. Ahh thats good to know. Can I ask what dosage you are taking?

I was on this medication for a few months but had to stop as it really upset my stomach. I had to take as much as I could tolerate but at the higher end I almost had to wear a nappy! So obviously I stopped. Yuk 😷😫

Oh dear that sounds terrible. I'm really scared now!

Just make sure you go up the dosages slowly and eat something when you take them. At lower dose they were ok. Don't be frightened....they may not cause you any problems. 😊

Thank you very much for the advice :)

I was prescribed it along with high dose aspirin after being hospitalized for pericarditis and pleuritis. It is supposed to prevent recurrence of pleuritis, though after two months I still have pleuritis (but less). I didn't have any side effects from it.
