Steriods: I need to help my bf to stop taking... - LUPUS UK
Steriods
Hi dimech
Your boyfriend needs to discuss coming off steroids with his GP or Rheumy. Firstly to see if his health is ok for him to do so and secondly they will give him a withdrawal plan as you have to reduce them slowly for your body to take over!. Hope that's helpful. X
Hi Dimech
I just wonder why you are taking this on? His steroid prescription is tailored for his condition, if he is at risk of his lupus symptoms coming back then surely he should still take them.
Of course if he is not on steroids for lupus but taking body building steroids then this is a completely different matter. In both instances he should see his gp and not reduce his dosage until he has the relevant instructions.
To come off steroids can not be done overnight but over several weeks or months depending on the dosage. If he does not do this then he will become very ill. Either way his condition needs to be professionally monitored. There is no shortcut.
