Could these food items be to blame for my flare up? I read somewhere that if you omit these four white foods you will notice improvement.

It all gets a bit much really, doesn't it? All this wondering and researching. I do believe it's diet and how our own body functions.

Before this flare I was on a 2000 calorie clean eating plan and I was well. But since slacking off a bit I started to eat all the wrong things and going back to old habits, PAIN resurfaced.Or could the food thing in my case just be a coincidence?

I have started back on my plan and I hope it improves my Lupas.

Hi Razoo, I have just been informed about 'Deliciously Ella, if you read about her it's really interesting how she managed to get better just by improving her diet. I've just started her recipes and hoping to improve myself! Also look at huffingtonpost.com/dr-mark-... I am now looking at Dr Hyman's 10 day detox (just working up to it!). Hope this helps x

There was a post a few days ago from one of the Lupus UK people, trying to gather feedback from this community on diet and how it's affected their symptoms, so yours would be really interesting to add to that collection of stories. My daughter with Lupus is completely gluten and dairy free and avoids refined sugar. She is doing really well but of course it's very hard to prove any definite link - is it just the medication that's keeping Lupus under control, or is the diet also making a difference? She is completely committed to sticking with the diet indefinitely with the aim to completely cure herself of the disease. Everything we can do to support our bodies to heal themselves is worth trying. Good luck going back onto your clean diet!

I am sure your daughter is right and I wish her all the best with the diet and beating her illness. I don't eat dairy either as I was diagnosed with asthma and put on steroids for six years, but a naturopath suggested leaving out dairy as well as gluten and I didn't get the attacks and stopped the steroids, but they had already damaged my health, unfortunately especially my adrenals. I find I am better without additives, preservatives and any processed food. If I eat them I get my old symptoms back and even high protein has to be kept in small amounts and organic/free range.

I have not eaten these foods for 14 years now and it does help to keep my flares at bay. I think I could have been coeliac all my life from looking back now and by continuing to eat gluten, I just made myself worse. It is so complicated and we are all different, but I find eating high nutrient foods help with my energy levels and keep me reasonably well for most of the time, but I am affected by lots of things just like our poor bees who are suffering in today's world.
