Nasal ulcer !

OK folks, I know this is not one of the wee worst symptoms but my nose feels like it is being ravaged, slowly eaten away. I've had, what feels like an ulcer, inside my nose, right at the top, for about 3 months now. It's painful and annoying. Anyone else had same ?

Hi there they are very nasty, have you been to the GP ? It sounds as though you need some antibiotics and naseptin cream ?

Thanks for your response. Yes I need to see my gp now as it's gone on too long. Also waiting for a biopsy to see if it's vascular as I've had, what appeared to be a vascular rash on my legs recently. All good fun eh?

Hello. No experience of this but sounds painful! I hope you have a solution soon.

Argh: no fun at all...SERIOUSLY sore!!!!

I've been managing these for years...became resistant to Naseptin, which was the first ointment my gp prescribed ....I now use Bactroban, which stops these things quite effectively, if I catch them early. Also, ENT recommended regular Neilmed Sinusrinse (available from amazon) which I think has also helped a lot. Some use Vaseline as a first line of treatment, but this doesn't work for me

I agree: best to tell your gp & rheumy about this, though. Nasal sores, ulcers, pulp lesions need to be discussed and managed appropriately...like you, I also get vascular rashes on my legs, feet etc

Thanks Barnclown,

I don't know why but I always think my new symptoms are peculiar to me. Then, with a little research, I find out they are quite typical of the spectrum of conditions which are auto-immune/connective tissue related.

Had terrible probs with soreness inside my nose, bleeding and redness inside and out, so dry and sore I could barely touch it. I was prescribed an ointment that helped and since then I've bought vaseline, and diprobase which is very good. I use them regularly to keep the dryness at bay but you sound like you might need something stronger, see your gp asap is my advice :)

I have sjogrens and Sle , my nose is always dry and crusty with ulcers, which I agree is very painful. It causes me to have a post nasal drip, and I snore loudly. Recently had a sleep apnoea test, waiting for results. I have tried sea salt sprays but didn’t,t help much. After looking online and researching , I ordered AYR nasal gel which does help, it provides some moisture which helps prevent crusting build up. X
