Wow: just the subject I've been bothered by lately!

Not sure how old you are, but i'm 60 and I think nocturia is part of the long game for anyone ageing, plus it's been complicated by my version of SLE (inc sicca symptoms/sjogrens), for sure. and yes, I do think anything that disrupts my routine does stir up my version of nocturia...eg Christmas.

Not sure if you'd be interested in how I seem to manage to keep my version of nocturia down to a bearable level, but, anyway, here goes....perhaps others here will add their tips...I'm vvvvv keen to discover ways to reduce nocturia!

my version started up in my mid 40s with perimenopause...over the nearly 20 years since that beginning, I've managed to get night visits to the loo down to 1per night....and any night I manage without suddenly waking to make a visit is RARE & prized.

over the years, my gp has worked with me on management tricks (the usual eg no tea before bed etc). and THE most helpful thing has been her referral to GYN physio for pelvic floor exercises(pfe) (I thought that was just for lack of control, but pfe have really helped reduce the frequency of my waking for this...so I do my exercises vvvv conscientiously daily). I tried oestrogen creams years ago, but they give me awful rashes, so i stopped! However, I do bathe my undercarriage daily with prescription emulsiderm & also I get replens md on prescription...I do think these help reduce my rate of nocturia.

When I have a UTI, it's ALWAYS volcanic (raging, roaring in with multiple symptoms & test results), but, knock on wood, I haven't had UTI for just over a year....

I like to think any reduction in the severity of my version of nocturia is partly down to my SLE meds helping my kidney function etc, + the stuff I've outlined here too...but I don't want to tempt fate....

Thanks for bringing this up!

Take care
