Anyone know what a high Plasma Viscosity means? Mine was 1.75 Range 1.50-1.72
inflammation markers ares lightly up if there was anything to worry about the doctor would have said
Thanks farmerfester reassuring! This is the first time I've had this test done was "tagged" on to the usual FBC test, seeing G.P. tomorrow so will ask but not so worried after your reply, esp. from a fellow Scot
where you from foxglove
Glasgow - now living in Wales Mother's family from Fort William and Kyle of Lochalsh Saw doc. this a. m. and he said P.V. of 1.75 nothing to worry about, had to be above 1.80 before anything to be bothered about. Seems a narrow range to me . Maybe you know more? Doc. offered to run test again but I said I would prefer to wait for next years annual bloods These blood tests only worry me and in the meantime best to leave well alone!
It's a sign of inflammation in the body. It raises with any infection, colds, flu etc. It is just one of the indicators doctors use when checking for autoimmune problems. There is a 'band' they use and between 1.50 - 1.72 is average. Slight movement either way is OK.
Thanksjamg3916. saw doc. this a.m. and he said I probably had infection at the time of blood draw. Pretty certain I hadn't but as long as no need to worry best leave well alone. Doc offered to run test again but I told him I would prefer to wait for next years annual bloods and health check (I'm one of nature's "worry worts") When I asked what was number to cause concern doc. said above 1.80 Seems a very narrow margin, maybe you know more?
That's good news...yes any infection can make it rise apparently. Mine has gone up to 2.00 when very unwell with Lupus, am on Methoject now and it is very gradually coming down but still up in the top 1.8's....so I often wonder if that is where it will stay...who knows! Have also had liver tests come back high but that can also be due to infections like colds and flu...amazing how much medical knowledge I have picked up over the past few years....
