was feeling great and then....

I went out in the sun. I had been pottering around the house all morning, did some washing and ironing, and making the most of my last day off before back to work on monday. I have had a good week - got lots of jobs odne round the house but alternated with periods of rest, had time to cook some really nice meals and just generally had a good rest. After luch I needed to go to the bank, and after driving for about 10 mins started to feel really hot and faint.

Is the effects of the sun as it was the first time I had been out in it today? I tend not to go out too much in the sun because I can suffer with rashes in the sun? Or could it be the sudden warmth?

Any hints would be appreciated because I don't want to feel like this all summer.

My husband asked me about that the other day. He was wondering if, by staying out of the sun and using protection, that I was making myself more vulnerable to it. I use to be a sun worshiper and I do really miss the feeling of melting on the beach, but can't anymore. I find that more than 15 minutes and I get a headache and start feeling nauseous, same in big box stores with all their lights. Sometimes I question whether it is just my imagination but I know that I was having issues before I had even heard of Lupus, and if I deny it is bothering me then I end up on the couch, that is not my imagination.

I know with allergies that they sometimes advise you to expose yourself to it and you build up immunity that way to the allergen, but what I (and other lupies) suffer form isn't really an allergy is it.

I just felt so light headed and dizzy for the rest of the afternoon. I have been sat outside in the dark tonight chatting to friends and that time of day suits me better. Maybe I should have been born a bat or an owl!!

As a lupus sufferer you must avoid the sun I use factor 50 most frustrating but artificial tan looks good The sun can trigger flares also it can have a detrimental effect on your mood . It can cause all sort of skin rashes and really is not worth best be on the safe side be well Sunbathing is ageing Im63 but look 35 Haha but honestly it is ageing and I don't look 63 or so everyone says then again 62 is younger than 63 have fun stay safe
