Just need some advice regarding prednisolone, I am going to hospital tomorrow for a pleural aspiration (taking fluid from around my lung) for a biopsy, as after months of having a pleural effusion and mentioning the pain at every doctor and rheumy appointment they have discovered a spot on my lung, which they don't think is cancer but want to be sure which is good but why has it taken so long, I am going to look into this further. Anyway just wanted to know should I take extra pred I am between 5 1/2 and 6mg at the moment.
Thanks Leesy

I had the same issue with my lung....had to do the biopsy as well. It looked like a large mass on my lung and didn't appear to be an overall pleurisy like with most Lupus patients with lung involvement. Turned out to be a inflammation. I had to take a leave of absence from work, took a hefty dose of steroids, and had to rest. It did resolve and I was left with no damage to my lung.
I hope your biopsy was proven benign and your doctor has you in a regimen to recover.
Thanks for your reply, they didn't do the biopsy in the end as they said there wasn't enough fluid, I have a respiratory appointment next month, suppose I will have to wait until then to see what they want to do, wasn't prescribed anything, still on steroids 5mg have a little pain so hopefully it will go as yours did. I did ask the doctor who was doing the ultrasound if it wasn't fluid what was causing the pain and he just said probably inflammation, I just wonder if they do actually know. Hopefully I will get a referral to a lupus specialist, nobody gives you a positive answer it is always probably the lupus.
