A shadow on your lung can lead to many diagnosis not necessarily one of lung cancer. In short an X ray with a shadow just shows that there is a problem and more investigative tachniques are required to determine what the problem may be. Have you asked about a bronchoscopy or a CT scan, these would normally be the next steps to take.
