Roy Castle Lung Cancer Foundation often get asked for input to advisory groups, surveys and information on how diagnosis and treatment has impacted on peoples' lives. If you would like to become more involved or find out more about different ways of sharing your experiences do get in touch.
A recent example is being asked for people to comment on research ideas around weight loss (cancer cachexia) and how it impacts on appetite and eating habits.
Another example is around travel insurance, where some people told us acess to insurance for a planned holiday to the US was unaffordable.
If you would like to be involved as a patient/ carer advocate, or find out more you can call us on 0333 323 7200 option 2 or email us on info@roycastle.org
many thanks

For anyone hesitating yet considering this, I'd like to say how supportive I've always found Roy Castle lung cancer foundation's team when invited to take part in such opportunities.
In case you're worried, we don't have to become scientists or medics or understand what is going on in our body!
It is others who want to know what people experience at different times or aspects of cancer - sometimes diagnostic phase, treatment phase, recovery phase or the living beyond treatment phase. There are many aspects of living with lung cancer that need to be better understood by those developing treatments .
We can help by sharing our experiences with those trying to improve patient experiences and outcomes.
Many of us want to reduce the fear/anxiety that others feel and improve care so this is one way to help if you're able.
I've found such opportunities interesting and stimulating. It's good to have new contributors .... good luck.
