my husband has small cell lung cancer, had chemo and radiation. Henhas severe RA. He developed afib and heart failure. He also has COPD, emphysema and ILD. Eleven months later his cancer has returned and will have chemo again. He is a smoker and 70 yr old.
What is his prognosis?

Sorry to hear about your husband's health problems. This must be a very difficult and worrying time for you both. Prognosis after recurrence is best discussed with your oncology team, as they will be able to give you a more informed opinion, and his other health problems may also be significant, however there are many positive outcomes and much support available.
Your husband should have a lung cancer nurse specialist allocated to him, they are a great source of advice, information and support. If you do not have one this can be requested either through your GP or consultant.
These range from diagnosis, staging of lung cancer, treatments and living with lung cancer.

I'm 47 and have stage 4 lung cancer. I still smoke but loads less. It so hard. I really for you and your dad. With your question no body knows how long. Stats are wrong its down to the individual being fit and active is the biggest advantage in my opinion and research. Walking cooking and eating are massive things. I struggle to eat it hurts but I know its full for my body x
