Hi Taffy,

Sorry to hear about your husband's health problems. This must be a very difficult and worrying time for you both. Prognosis after recurrence is best discussed with your oncology team, as they will be able to give you a more informed opinion, and his other health problems may also be significant, however there are many positive outcomes and much support available.

Your husband should have a lung cancer nurse specialist allocated to him, they are a great source of advice, information and support. If you do not have one this can be requested either through your GP or consultant.

All our information booklets can be found on this link: roycastle.org/help-and-supp...

These range from diagnosis, staging of lung cancer, treatments and living with lung cancer.

There is an online forum where you can find support and encouragement from those living with lung cancer: healthunclocked.com/lungcancer

Our campaign section provides encouraging accounts from those living with lung cancer: roycastle.org/campaigns/

The Maggie’s centres are a great place to have a cuppa and a chat, they provide practical, financial and emotional support, most of the centres are attached to cancer care hospitals, this is the one in Glasgow: maggies.org/our-centres/mag...

We have online support groups through zoom and if you are interested in this you can register through this link: roycastle.org/help-and-supp...

If you are looking anything up on the internet we would advise that you only use approved research evidence-based websites:

roycastle.org

cancerresearchuk.org

macmillan.org.uk

I hope some of this information is helpful to you, you must remember to look after yourself too!

If you wish to discuss anything in more detail, then you can call our free phone nurse led helpline number on 0800 358 7200 Monday to Thursday 0900-1700 and Friday 0900-1600 or you can email us at lungcancerhelp@roycastle.org

I'm 47 and have stage 4 lung cancer. I still smoke but loads less. It so hard. I really for you and your dad. With your question no body knows how long. Stats are wrong its down to the individual being fit and active is the biggest advantage in my opinion and research. Walking cooking and eating are massive things. I struggle to eat it hurts but I know its full for my body x
