Hi 1973Ren

Sorry to hear you have cancer, the drug Thalidomide can cause peripheral neuropathy, which can affect the sensory nerves in the fingers and toes. It would be advisable to let your oncology team know so you can have an assessment.

This link details peripheral neuropathy and how to manage this, it is from Macmillan Support: macmillan.org.uk/cancer-inf...

I am unsure of the health care system in South Africa, but you could ask your doctor, oncologist for pain management of your nerves. Medication that is used for sensory neuropathy may have different license use in different countries, but there are some drugs that may help e.g Gabapentin or Lyrica and each require a prescription.

If there is anything you would like to discuss you can email ask the nurse at lungcancerhelp@roycastle.org

All the very best
