My adenocarcinoma is causing me to cough up lots of watery fluid and breathlessness. My oncologist has suggested Buscopan usually for IBS to try to help dry up secretions.

Has anyone any similar problems or solutions please. What a roller coaster ride this is!

Dear Mulino

So sorry you have been feeling quite unwell with your respiratory secretions. It is not unusual to use Buscopan for this, it has many uses along with IBS and one of these is to dry secretions up.

Your oncologist will look after you well and if you find it does not work for you do go back to them or speak to your lung cancer nurse specialist.

Hope you will hear from others who have experienced this and provide encouragement and support for you.

If you would like to discuss anything else our helpline is open Tuesday 5th January, 0800 358 7200 or you can email at lungcancerhelp@roycastle.org

Hope you feel better soon.

Dear Mulino, You're right about the rollercoaster of experiences - but hang on in there - breathlessness is a common symptoms for other conditions too and there are many resources to help you improve your breathing with breathing exercises - breathing shallowly and quickly makes us more tired as it doesn't ensure the correct mix of oxygen etc to our bloodstream and also releases things like cortisol (stress hormone) into our system which aren't helpful. hope you can practise some of the suggestions and improve your situation. good luck. macmillan.org.uk/cancer-inf...
