hi, just joined this site, i have been seen by the oncologist, due to severe copd im not a candidate for lung surgery, radiotherapy for 4 weeks has been agreed, there is also a lump in my breast so another ct scan is needed along with biopsies so radiotherapy will be delayed until the results come back, she has put me down as an urgent referral so hopefully it wont be long, i stay positive which is the best thing, having a dog gives me exercise, failed all my tests at respiratory as my lungs only function 41%, i can only hope its not a tumour in my breast.

lung cancer
Imagine you're feeling very scared and vulnerable right now. will keep fingers crossed - they have to do a lot of tests when more than one type might be suspected in case one if the primary and one if the secondary to determine the best type of treatment. if it's not (and fingers crossed), they will use the test results to determine the best way of treating the lung tumours given your COPD. Many lung cancer patients have other lung conditions including COPD/asthma so clinicians are used to this and managing the two or more conditions alongside one another. It's good that you can walk the dog - keep that up as the more you can keep your lungs developed (even at your low function), the better it is for you... take care, stay positive and keep us posted.
thanks for your words of comfort,i had a ct2 scan yesterday and was marked up for my treatment starting on the 20th, i go tomorrow for my breast biopsy a waiting game sadly until they have the results, i go back for my last ct scan next week this is just to make sure the tattoes are aligned probably, cant fault any of the staff i`ve met allways with a smile on there face in spite of all that is going on at the moment, please stay safe and i hope you are well.
Glad you're experiencing compassionate care despite the current circumstances. Thanks for your kind wishes - yes I'm currently well and eternally grateful for the kind care I experienced from my surgeon and respiratory consultant over the years. Hope you get some answers soon.
hi, this is my 2nd week of radiotherapy for lung cancer, the biopsy from the lump on my breast came back as cancerous but not enough tissue had been taken, i had another one last week and a phone call today to come back and see the doctor next tuesday before i go for radiotherapy, she has mentioned a mastectomy, or some hormonal pills, my head was all over the place at the time, i as ked if it was related to lung cancer but was told no , it is a different cancer, at the same time,it may be a good thing they caught both together, i dont know what to expect now, ha ving cancer in the lung as well as the breast i have never heard of this before, i know they will make the best decision for me,
Sorry to hear your news, staying positive is the key medicine is so advanced and we have an amazing nhs service. I myself am still in hospital recovering from my second lung surgery in 6wks, the surgery I had first was to remove stage 2 tuma and 60% of my right lung then the results cam back that possible tuma cells were left behind so I'm now in having the rest of my lung taken. Please stay positive its amazing what a positive mind achieves.
