Advice on taking EBUS-TABNA

My pet scan revealed that my right lower lobe apical segment nodule grown to 1.3 cm and uptake SUV max 10.5

They suggested to have endobronchial ultrasound guided biopsy

I am confused on this as the growth is very slow

Should I take the biopsy now . or have another test or carry on having ct instead as this may not be cancer

Thanks

Dear Zayna,

You should be guided by the specialists managing your care. If a biopsy has been suggested this will provide very accurate samples of the lung tissue which will help in deciding how your care will be managed.

Kind regards,

This is what I am crying for just advice from the consultant

The problem is as follows

1- it took them 45 days to send me brief findings on pet ct. this is strange

2- in between one consultant phoned me from his mobile while parking his car saying that biopsy will be done . That's all.

3- later I received letter from the surgeon saying that they will do for me fibre optic endoscopy

4- lastly I received letter from consultant that they will do ebus tabna

I don't mind If I have proper consultancy and details of what they want to do

Today my GP guided me how to complain, or ask them to send me to another place for second opinion or ask nhs to change hospital

What do you suggest to do

Dear Zayna

It is understandable that you feel a bit confused on what type of investigation you are having. You can ask for a second opinion and your GP can request one for you.

The ebus tabna is certainly more detailed than an endoscopy, it allows for better access to difficult areas and for obtaining tissue or lung fluid for biopsy.

If you wish to discuss this you can call us on our Freephone nurse led helpline number on 0800 358 7200.

If you have not seen the Consultant at the clinic lately, this can be requested either by your GP or you could call their Secretary to see if an appointment has been allocated for you.

Kind regards

Thanks for you response

My major problem is lack of consultancy

The consultant do nothing in the clinic but looking at images and give you briefing and what to do next . This does not happen in London hospitals . They give you only 5 min per nhs instructions

What I need consultancy and how I can move to another caring hospital

There is no need for second opinion as such

If I do biopsy in this hospital and through their efforts goes colapse in the lung or another thing I will not be informed

At this stage I don't like to complain but to move to another hospital

As I am not confused I hope I made my message clearer now

Thanks

I will call tomorrow
