Answering my own question

I did some research since my last post so N1 means it's in the lymph nodes and M1a that it has spread nearby. As I'm having a CT scan on the abdomen and pelvis on Thursday I assume the M1a bit might change depending on what they find. Nobody's mentioned thevypper half of my body - from the lungs up - shouldn't my brain etc be tested too?

Hi

From what I understand from my husbands diagnosis. N1 means cancer in one of the lymph nodes and M1a means spread to the pleura around the lungs. Least ways that's what my husband's was. The CT scan will show up where it is. Good luck with whatever treatment you are on.

Thanks Goingcuckoo. Hopefully I'll know more in a couple of weeks when all results are in and treatment can start. Good luck to you and your husband on this crap journey. X

Dear Aamar

This link explains what M1 might be (split into 3 sections a, b and c) If it is M1a then that would be in or around the lung only.

Perhaps discuss with your lung cancer specialist nurse your staging and dependant on that, would there be a scan elsewhere i.e. the brain.

If you would like to discuss anything you can call us on our Freephone nurse led helpline number on 0800 358 7200

All the very best

hi Aamar mine was t2a n3 and m1c bit scary when you've no idea what it means, mine spread from right lung to the left and all my lymph nodes and to my ribs and spine, there's so much waiting around for results, I was told I have an average of a year but didn't feel ill at all so never accepted that, and always believed I'd beat it, it might only be a TKO, but my cancer is dormant now and has been for 3 months at least, I'm running a 10k in london this month and swim serpentine in Sept, I went vegan which they say starves the cancer, can only go on my case but it's dormant now, and believe 100% you'll beat it, wishing you all the best with this and be strong and a stubborn git, because you will beat it whatever anyone tells you, good luck Aamar

Vegan starved cancer? Can I eat chicken?

hi Lovely1000

from what I can gather from what I've read, it's not eating meat that will cause cancer but it's the excess protein that your body stores that will feed the cancer, so if you eat some chicken it won't hurt but make sure you use the protein in the amount of chicken you eat, so your body doesn't store it , hope that helps, it's just my opinion not medical facts, I watched 'what the health' and 'food choices' on netfix, makes you think. good luck and enjoy your chicken 😊 xx
