I am unable to have an operation as my survival rate is not worth rating!! Has anyone else got experience with SABR? I’ve heard it’s excellent on new small lung tumours? Would love to hear from someone who has experienced this.

I had an operation in January with a major portion of my right lung removed.A recent scan, has shown a small tumour which is not suitably located for further surgery. I have met with the Radiotherapists and my oncologist and I start 5 sessions of SABR week after next on alternate days over 2 weeks so I am optimistic (again) about the outcome. Good luck with it. Best wishes Tony

Dear E10ly

Welcome to the forum. Thankfully radiology treatments have improved greatly in the past 10 years. As technology has advanced so rapidly, this has a huge impact on the delivery of treatments, i.e. radiotherapy and surgical techniques.

SABR is one of those advances and it can target a very small area with a high dose, whilst avoiding this dose to the healthy tissue surrounding it.

This link from Macmillan support explains what is involved:

macmillan.org.uk/informatio...

Cancer research UK also provide good information on this:

You may wish to consider asking if there are any clinical trials available for you, this link lists all the clinical trials, locations and eligibility from cancer research UK:

If you wish to discuss anything you can call us on our free nurse led helpline number on 0800 358 7200

Kind regards

I have just had upper left Lobectomy, but ha enother area at lower lung which I have to have radiotherapy to. To have scan next Monday, then oncologist will decide when this will start or if they will want h and wait. This really worrys me as they have no idea what type of cancer it is. Luckily my other tumour was slow growing so hopefully this one is to. Wish u the best, and hope it all goes well for you x
