Hello Presley11,

The medical team who’s care you are under will sometimes offer Prophylactic Cranial radiotherapy ( PRC ), it involves treating the whole of the brain with radiation as a preventative measure, this can reduce the chances of the cancer spreading to the brain at a later date. I have added a link below to the Macmillan website which helps to explain brain radiation

macmillan.org.uk/informatio...

If you would like to speak with someone please give us a call on the nurse led helpline Freephone 0333 323 7200

Kind regards

Hi Presley11

I had Stereotactic (SRS) surgery ot several small tumours on my brain also known as Gamma knife I believe but there is no cutting. That was fine and they made a mask to go over my face/brain to keep me still. It didn't work on the larger tumour on that side, so I had an operation (craniotomy). that was 2016.

This year I became confused and was unbalanced, (do-lally) so to speak. I had a lot of swelling and another tumour which caused this (as I'm not usually do-lally), on the parietal side (yes I didn't know much about the brain myself but I'm getting in to it now if you know what mean.

With large doses of steroids to decrease the swelling and another craniotomy, they took out the tumour completely!

How do I feel? Pretty good! My hair is thinning probably, due to the trauma of it all but it is growing back after 25 staples removed from the op and I'm thankful to be alive and.......

I bought a lovely wig in the meantime!

I'm now awaiting further scan results so watch this space as they say.

Best wishes

Hoggy

Just saw your post. My husband had radiotherapy for brain secondaries, he'd no brain symptoms though. The only way he was affected was his head was like really bad sunburn so lots of moisturizing cream was applied. It did also seem to increase the hair loss.

Hope it all goes well for you.
