At long last my own oncologist is back. I went last Thursday determined to get action from her as I was gasping with breathlessness. I managed to get my transport back and was also given a wheel chair for hospital use. I said I wanted to speak to a Care Nurse before I saw the oncologist. It was obvious that the care nurse had spoken to her as her whole attitude had changed. She could not do enough for me.
She said she would refer me to a Respiratory Nurse. The following day I was rung up and told they wanted me in hospital on Monday to drain my lungs. I am to have a permanent drain on my Ieft side and they will also drain my right side. I am also to have visits from a district nurse.
Sadly, the locum oncologist who left me for months doing nothing has presided over the cancer moving to my liver. Surely that is negligence?
I am to start chemo soon.
Please does anyone know about how to obtain a wig? In this cold weather I thought it would be an added protection and also boost my confidence.
Very best wishes to you all

Thank you for the update and so glad you had discussions with the specialist nurse which seems to have impacted on a good response from the Oncologist.
Perhaps discuss the management of your liver cancer with either your nurse or Oncologist. There is PALS (Patient Advice and Liaison Service) available in the NHS, they can assist with health related questions and help resolve any concerns you have with your care. To contact your nearest PALS phone NHS on 111.
To access wigs, Cancer research UK have a list of providers UK wide on this link:
Your specialist nurse may know of somewhere local and sometimes even the cancer clinic/hospital have provisions for this. If you have a local Maggie's Centre they may be able to provide information on this, their telephone number is 0300 123 18001
Wishing you all the very best with everything.
