I was diagnosed stage 2a ncslc and my Dr says 6 cm to our in right lung lobe near chest wall, so I was ordered to do 3 rounds of chemo cicplatain with ampla once every 3 weeks then pet scan to see shrinkage .amount cause the doctor wants to surgically remove tumor. Why another pet scan? Why not act scan, does the chemo stop spreading from happening? I had a bronical biopsy on my lymphnodes in my lungs and tested negative, the mass is positive and the size 6 cm makes me a 2 a instead of stage 1b.....anybody know what I'm looking at?....scared stiff

Hello Lovey1000, this understandably must be very worrying time for you, the best person to advise you on the reason for a repeat PET scan is your lung cancer specialist nurse, they are part of the team responsible for your care and will be able to answer any questions that you may have.
We have an information booklet on surgery, this has a lot of information on what to expect from surgery, I can post to you or below is a direct link to view on line roycastle.org/system/file_u...
If you would like to speak with someone please give us a call on our nurse led helpline freephone 0800 358 7200
Kind regards
