my mum has recently had a left lung lobectomy they removed the tumour it was 6.2 cm, test showed it had

not travelled to the lymph nodes. however they have found something in her spine. Mum had adenocarcinoma, is this safe to say the cancer has spread to the spine,!!!!!

Dear Bexsta35

Sorry to hear about your Mum and hope she has recovered well from her lung surgery. It is obviously difficult to say if it has spread, as it could be anything. But understand your concern that it has been noted. With any cancer, any new symptom or incidental finding on xrays etc are always a worry until the results are through. It is such an anxiety for everyone concerned.

Adenocarcinoma is one of the slow growing lung cancers (non-small cell) and there has been no spread to lymph nodes so that is encouraging.

Let us know how your Mum goes with her investigations and if you wish to discuss anything you can call us on our free nurse led helpline number on 0800 358 7200

All the best
