Hi sorry to hear about your mum. It seems everyone's situation is so different and how diff hospitals deal with things. I know what you mean that it is like a waiting game and very worrying and upsetting while waiting. Sorry I can't give you any answers or info but sure someone will be able too soon but thinking of you and try to stay strong for your mum and thinking of you both x
Hi. My mum was diagnosed from ct scan with t3 n2 m0 lung cancer on 23rd march. She was discharged from hospital on 7th and we saw her consultant on the 20th april. Have you contacted her doctor to discuss the diagnosis? My mum has been allocated a lung specialist nurse at the hospital who we can call when we need advise. She has been brill and answered my queries over not eating, blood tests etc. Im keeping busy with the never ending paperwork; applying for attendence allowance, power of attorney, blue badge etc. Its helping me being busy.
Wishing you and your mum all the best
Jo
Hi so sorry to hear your Mums diagnosis
Though all hospital trusts are different waiting 6 weeks and not having an appointment in place to go back to see consultant is not good
When I had my pet scan results were back the following week and i had an appointment already in place to see my consultant to discuss results
If your Mum was assigned a lung specialist nurse ring her and ask if an appointment has been made, if she hasn't ring the hospital and ask to speak to the consultants secretary she will be able to look on the system to check what's going on
Another option is to ring the appointment line and ask them to check if an appointment is showing just in case the letter as gone astray in the post
I have found since being diagnosed to chase everything to do with any tests and will keep on at them until I know the answers
Last resort is to go through PALS at your hospital they can look into this on your Mums behalf
Hope everything is soon sorted
Margaret

Hello Chel09,
Welcome to our forum, I am sorry to hear of your mums diagnosis of lung cancer, this will be a very worrying time for the whole family. They are some very good replies from others and as they have said it might be worth getting in touch with your lung cancer nurse specialist she will have access to your mums medical records and will be able to advise about appointment times etc.
If you wish to discuss anything you can call us on our free nurse led helpline number on 0800 358 7200
