Hi. My mother also has sclc but I wasn't aware of the immunotherapy trial - can you provide details I would be interested to know about this.
Hi AnnW1
My mum was diagnosed in Nov 2016 with ED SCLC. Halfway through her 4 cycles of Chemotherapy her Oncologist offered her a place on an immunotherapy trial using 2 approved drugs and a placebo. The trial offer is to look at using these drugs for maintenance therapy for SCLC ED patients who have had a good response to first line chemo. Mum has also had 10 preventative PCI brain irradation. The Clinical Trial department at your mums treating cancer centre may have details if you ask them. Or ask your oncologist if your mum would qualify for this trial.
Kind regards
Sparkpin
Thanks Sparkpin
How is your mum doing on the trial? Hope there is some success occurring! My mother was diagnosed with ED SCLC, I think there are very few diagnosed as LD. She had chemo with radiotherapy afterwards and 10 of the pci. A clinical trial has never been offered but its time to ask!
Kind regards
Hi ANNW1
My mum is not due to start trial for another 2 weeks as she is having a months break after PCI. I think the PCI has knocked the sparkle in her eyes a little. I think the trial may be targeted for SCLC ED patients who have not had thoracic radiation. The 2 drugs being trialed are Nivolumab and Ipilimumab.
Kind regards
Sparkpin.
