Hi Rabbie

I can't believe what I have just read. This guy is on another planet , what the hell is he thinking of. No connection , understanding , knowledge , empathy , oh I could on . A terminal illness is is devastating for anyone what ever the illness is. Yes, living with cancer offers a chance to say goodbye , put things in order and try to meet our own needs and needs of family. But I would give that up to go quicker than have my family go through the end with me. The only thing I can try and understand about this guy and his comment Is that he can't have experienced closely anyone going through cancer. If he has , I really struggle with his comment. I would like a debate with this guy , especially whilst on my steroids . I could give him a good run for his money, if you know what mean. Or maybe not , could find myself locked up for the night. HAHA,

Hi Rabbie

Just read a little more info on this guy , through Sky. Okay I get some of what he is saying , information taken from his patients. But this is based on the thoughts and feelings of an individual and tailored to their needs not everyone in general. I think this is a very personal issue and should have be kept that way. The manner , attitude and wording will upset many people .

I'm almost lost for words ... Which is not like me. I've just come of the phone to my mam who is mentally and physically drained from caring for my dad who has stage iv NSCLC , this has spread to his bones and he is in extreme pain 24 hours a day. This statement can only be made by someone who has not been effected by cancer by a close family member or friend . The suffering along with everything else that comes with a cancer diagnosis is horrendous for all involved. It's something when a daughter wishes her farther a quick death ... Seeing him suffer like this is torture , nobody deserves to die like this . Richard Smith you want to come and live a few days with my parents and youd be eating your words!!

Yes I know he dones not know what he is talking about

Having read this article several times I can perhaps agree that there is some truth in what he says. The thing that gets me is he is putting out his a own opinion and although I don't know this guys background and family life without personal knowledge of cancer through being a carer or patient then his opinions do not carry any weight with me. Every one of us is different and for him to generalise the 'best' and 'worst ' ways to die is crass in the least even if we'll meant. We are all entitled to leave this world with dignity, no matter how we go and to suggest that it would be preferable to end our days with cancer is quite ludicrous. I have no doubt that this doctor has the best of intentions but it appears to me that he is courting media attention without regard to the feelings of many of the people on this and other sites. Anyway I have wasted enough time and energy on this subject I must get back to writing and quickly getting through my bucket list in case I have a heart attack LOL.

Rabbie,

I think you have summed him up very well.We should not allow this mans views to upset us.I try to avoid people with negative views. We should spend our time with with people who support us.
