I'm 40, smoke 40 a day, I've had pneumonia twice and pleurisy. I have constant pain in the left side of my chest & a permanent cough.

The pain in my chest feels like something is hitting my rib cage when i breath in.I have a temp of around 37.8 and have night sweats. My chest xrays have shown something but as it has not grown no one is concerned about it. I am waiting for the results of another xray. I am not losing any weight!

Hi there

I'd make doubly sure that a thorough check is made. Weight loss is a good indicator that something may be wrong, but it certainly isn't a guarantee. The 'something' in your x-ray may be nothing worth bothering about, but make sure things are checked properly, and don't take anything for granted.

Best wishes, Bill

Bill is right, you need to keep pushing your GP fot further tests. I had no major symptoms but Xray showed some shadowing, this turned out to be a NSILD. It was a CT scan that picked up the tumour. So your shadows may not be serious, but please get a thorough examination.

Good Luck

Rab.
