Hi Deborah
I think you should be telling the Doc that you're worried something serious might be wrong, and you want to have an x-ray and thorough examination. Maybe it IS just and infection, but it needs to be sorted out. I had similar last year for several weeks. I eventually got it fixed - x-ray and a change in medication, and it cleared up without problem. It can't be allowed to carry on indefinitely though.
Best wishes, Bill
Yes I agree with Bill.Ask your GPfor a chest x ray and then you can have it very quickly.Julie x
Hello Deb
It sounds as though you are worrying about how unwell you are feeling and the length of time you have been feeling like this. As Bill suggests there could be a number of explanations but you need to talk to your doctor. It is important to explain how this is affecting you day to day and that you are worried.
Your GP may want to arrange a chest x ray and other follow up tests. It is worth persisting and making sure you get a diagnosis and have your symptoms treated.
There is information on diagnosis on our website roycastle.org
Hopefully this will not be relevant to you, but I am sure all our forum members would encourage you to get an explanation and early diagnosis of whatever your chest problem might be.
best wishes

Pleurisy can give you the symptoms you are describing, being very painful and debilitating for months with shortness if breath and wheezing. It can be treated and gets better and follows infection. However I say this, not as a def diagnosis but to reassure you that these symptoms are not always lung cancer related. I agree with the rest of the gang, return to your gp and request an X-ray, if they insist you don't need one then you insist on them reassuring you that they are confident they know what's wrong with out one, because treatment so far has been ineffective. With the current focus on lung cancer about a cough lasting too long I am surprised your GP has not already sent you for further checks with the other symptoms as well. Get it checked out I wish this had happened with Chris years ago when she kept getting a chest infection every year the outcome may have been better. Take care of your destiny. Tell your GP you are worried after seeing the adverts on TV. Des xx
