Brain tumor/inflamation due to radiotherapy

While we got good news after the PET scan that my dad’s lung cancer and metastasis have not been progressing , looks like he got quite a big inflammation in the brain due to radiotherapy. He has memory loss and weakness in his legs because of that.

Any ideas/suggestions how long it takes for the inflamation to go away and what is the solution in this case? Thanks

I have no knowledge of radiotherapy, so I can't answer your question. I can say that rate of healing seems to be as individual as we are. Hopefully someone who has some knowledge of radiotherapy will respond to your post. In the meantime, have you asked his oncologist?

I agree with Katherine, everyone is different. Is he still on steroids?

They added prednol last time. Looks like steroids may impact Keytruda and because of that they added low dosage.

I just got bad news from my MRI. I had being really great for nearly 2 years on Pemetrexed maintenance and now they have told me I have. 1.5 brain metastasis. I’m so scared. I see the Radiologist next week and I think they are looking at SBRT. I’m terrified of having cognitive loss not to mention how it will effect length of life. They have me on Dexamethasone to help with swelling. I’m not sure if this would help the inflammation, but I would think so and I read it works quickly. I don’t so far have any effects. Is your dad on a steroid? Happy to hear nothing is progressing. My head is all over the place now and I had been dealing with my stage 4 lung tumour pretty well.

Thanks for listening
