I just wanted to see if anyone else who had or is on immunotherapy has had any thyroid issues. I had an mri of my neck because of a bulging disc and a good sized nodule was noted on the scan. My orthopedic then ordered an ultrasound as recommended by the radiologist. Not only was there one...there are NINE lol. According to the report, 7 of them appear fluid filled with defined margins but the two largest ones (3cmx2cm and 2.9cmx2.5cm) appear solid with irregular margins. Biopsy was suggested and I e already made an appointment with an endocrinologist. I have every symptom of hypothyroidism including 30lbs of weight gain since 2017. My oncologist is onboard with the biopsy and believes cancer is a very unlikely scenario and that Hashimotos or typical hypothyroidism are to blame. If that’s the case then a simple synthroid script for life outta fix it. At my last CT scan in December there was only one visible node so they’re popping up rather fast. Has anyone else had this issue after radiation and or immunotherapy? I was on iv infusions of the immunotherapy drug (now named Immfuzi(sp) for two years and completed the trial in 2017. The long term side effects are not fully known or understood at this time as I am a part of the first group to ever receive this treatment. Apparently thyroid issues are on top of the list. If anyone has had a similar situation please let me know. Thanks and have a great weekend! Xo

I have a small thyroid nodule and I'm hyperthyroid and on Levothyroxine and also had been on Opdivo. My docs days the nodule is tiny and they'll watch it.
Now, I'm wondering if I should have an ultrasound too. Mine showed up on a CT scan. Maybe I have more than one too?
Well...seeing I had one in December and nine in February...an ultrasound might not be a bad idea for you lol. Apparently they are very common and usually benign but with our histories...you can’t be too careful. I only WISH I had hyperthyroid instead of hypo lol. I was a bit underweight so with the thirty pounds im still within “normal” range but I don’t like it. Nothing fits me 😡. I guess there are worse things than not fitting in your jeans but still...I need to find the problem and fix it because if I gain 7-10lbs a year then pretty soon I’ll be a chunk and we don’t need that. 😊
I'm due for scans in April. I'll ask then. I'm going to Cali in a few weeks to see my son and enjoy some warm weather. I don't want to stress about anything before my trip.
I had only had chemo, but 4 years after chemo I now have hypothyroidism. I am on levothyroxine. It is working for me since my number started at 11 or 12 and is now 3ish the normal range.
Hi there- I am on Opdivo for the last 2 1/2 yrs and the thyroid issue with me was that my immune system attacked and destroyed my thyroid gland, so I now take 150 mcg of levothyroxine daily. This is a small price for me to pay to still be alive and functioning!
