My brother (based in the USA) has been diagnosed with Lung cancer, which has also spread to the lymph nodes and 3 bones as well. He has been started on the drug Tagrisso in the past few days. The cost is $5000 per month over and above their medical insurance contribution, which is not sustainable for them. Has anyone had similar difficulties and does Tagrisso work? Thanks in advance.

Your brother needs to meet with the patient assistance coordinator at his oncology clinic tomorrow and ask/plead for assistance from the drug manufacturer. Believe me , this can work . He may and probably will be told there is no money left for assistance in 2018. That’s fine, just please get all the aid request forms completed NOW, and submitted NOW into the queue for monies to be granted in 2019. Please ensure he does this. Been there and done that, judg69

Please advise him to apply for assistance from the drug manufacturer, here is a link to the program they offer.

Many patients get their meds through these assistance programs when they don't have insurance.

Good luck

Tagrisso has worked wonder for my wife. The drug has kept cancer under control, the side effect is manageable. Good luck with your assistance application, I heard many cases where drug manufacturer will provide drugs either free or at reduced price.

Tagrisso was helping my Dad for about 6 months and almost cleared the cancer from his lungs but suddenly stopped working and all the cancer spread to his brain. I’m sure it works differently for everyone.

Hi Mackj i have read about the drug and it appears to have positive results. I am on Keytrada and thankfully live in the UK where all my treatment for my lung cancer is free on the NHS. I wish you well for the future and pray you have a good outcome.
