I am 72 and had robot-assisted surgery on 3/20/18. While I was in the hospital 2 days I did not experience any problems during my stay, my only problem since has been a shortness of breath and feeling tired. Has anyone else had this problem and how long did it last?

I had my left lung removed 2/27/2017. I do not use oxygen but with exertion I have shortness of breath. The doctor says it’s normal because I do not have nor ever will have the lung capacity as before.

If you feel you’re having more shortness of breath than normal, talk to your doctor. You may have other things going on so always err on the ‘right side.’ Its better to have peace of mind. Good luck and I pray you get stronger every day.

I had a lower left lung lobectomy in March, 2017. I was 69. Up until the cancer (adenocarcinoma) I was very healthy. While I was able to function relatively well within days of the surgery, I did have some SOB and my stamina was greatly reduced. It was actually a good six months before I was able to get through a whole day without wanting to take a short nap. I'm now pretty much back to normal although I'm now hyper aware of all my aches and pains. I'm now a bit of a hypochondriac I'm afraid to say.

Before the lung cancer, I wasn't one to share feelings with others. This website has changed me a bit. I find it to be an important addition to my life.

Hang in there. You are early in your recovery. I wish you the very best. Please keep sharing with us here.

Yes I also have a really bad cough. I had a lobectomy (2 lobes removed) in November of last year. I can say ithe shortness of breath and cough has gotten a lot better since then. I ended up firing my pulmonary dr and I went to Cleveland Clinic. I had a bronchoscopy and a PLF study done. I’m starting Pulmonary Rehab next week. I decided to join a yoga class as well. Good luck.
