Hi everyone. After a long terrifying day my mom is stable on 12L of oxygen by nasal cannula (I’ve worked in the business for years but never saw this) but the long and short of it is this; her Keytruda is on hold indefinitely because she requires high doses of steroids to help with the emphysema and oxygenation. Are there any treatments other than chemo and radiation for Nsclc that allow for steroids. We are so heartbroken that she had the option of Keytruda and now it’s gone.

I'm so sorry you have hit this roadblock. This journey with lung cancer is a very bumpy one. Ask any one who is taking it either as the patient or the caregiver. Your mother's doctors are the best people to answer your question about the next step. Treatment involves a series of steps. I wish we could just find one thing that cures us, but it doesn't work that way yet.
Take care of yourself. Your mom is in good hands. You have been making the best decisions you could and I'm sure you will continue to do so.

Cici,
Hi, I am just so sorry - this is all so hard. Please hear Jean, she is right. Will hold you both in my prayers.
So sorry for this impasse. Perhaps there is a clinical trial she qualified dues for. Do try a search at clinical trials.org.
