Whereabouts are you LauraLynn? Your profile says USA. This site is based in London, England. There are many contributors here from your side of the Pond, hopefully they will be able to jump in and assist.
I've had several bi-lateral lymphoedema clients successfully go through TKR. Wish I could say the same for myself! No lower limb lymphoedema, but a TKR in 2017 has now failed, and no sign of a second replacement!
I live in Colorado. Yeah, had my tkr and to say the least it was more painful than i thought. I was surprised for i was able to keep my lymphedema under control after surgery. Sorry to hear about your tkr. Honestly, I am still wondering if i did the right thing getting it done. Ive had several other surgeries, but none of them was as difficult as the tkr. Im a month out and my leg is still numb from thigh to ankle . I also ran into problems of nerve pain in left foot severely. When i asked the dr they said it was from the nerve block they gave however, my regular dr stated he doesnt understand why its in opposite foot. Everything that is wrong they say it can take up to a year. I hope not for the nerve pain is really a bit more painful than the actual knee. What problems did you have ?, if you dont mind me asking. Thanks ahead for your input. Everything is helpful. I hope you get you tkr fixed correctly , for that really has to be painful and inconvenient.
I am in Iowa, and have left leg lymphedema. I haven't had TKR, but have put off foot surgery because I was nervous about flaring up my lymphedema. My Dad's wife had TKR and it did take a long time to feel better. It is a slow recovery. Good luck!
Thanks for the info. I was afraid to do my knee for the same reason, but the lymphedema was not to bad afterwards. I am being told that it will take me 6 months to a year to start feeling better. So for now just trying to be positive. I wish you the best , and hope if you do have foot surgery all goes well.
