Wider Leg Trousers and Lymphedema

Reading the posts on this subject I see that it appears to be an ongoing problem. It must be hard enough for women to find trousers that fit and are comfy but searching for trousers for men is even more difficult. I have found Big Clobber aka SizedWell to be a really helpful company to deal with and they go out of their way to try and help. In their quest to find suitable trousers for men with lymphedema needing much wider legs from the calf they have come up with some great items for casual wear including Ben Simonelli cargos and that's much appreciated. Of course men sometimes or even often, depending upon lifestyle and place of work have a need for trousers that are more formal. At this point, along comes the brick wall. The widest I have found is 22" or when the trouser is folded along the crease 11" at the hem and quite simply it isn't wide enough. I have looked at the seams to let them out but there is very little that is of use. It might be that the only route is to have them made which seems drastic considering the number of people that have that problem.

Following a suggestion made by a letter in Lymph Line I have had trousers, shirts and jackets made by i Tailor. They are mainly a mens tailor but make items for women too, although I have found that women's blouses tend to be men's shirts just buttoning the other way. They sort of worked but giving certain measurements and having items made from that doesn't always work as we are often not standard between the measuring points! Some things haven't turned out quite right although, in fairness, they always try to be helpful and are quite willing for you to give them specific details and instructions. The online contact guy is very helpful, so I would suggest you have a look at itailor.com

My mum asked me to get wide leg joggers in a couple sizes bigger from sports direct for her. The waist is adjustable and she finds them comfy and inexpensive for casual wear. Some places also do adjustable waist wide leg more formal trousers if you look around in shops like M&S or Debenhams or online.
