The occasional tipple? The effects of alcohol.

We are told that drinking alcohol is not good for lymphoedema. I enjoy the occasional glass of wine but not sure if it is having any effect on the condition. Is there any information on the effects of alcohol on lymphatic drainage? I would be interested in your views.

There is a well written explanation here:

Occasional glasses will no harm - we have to be able to enjoy life!

Ok in moderation (as for anyone really).

I have primary lymphedema, and it won't make me popular, but I personally find that my circulation is so poor, when I do have a glass of win, the next day I feel brighter, and my lymph system is good. I can actually feel it working. I need to put this in context that I very rarely drink, I probably have about 6 glasses of wine a year. It doesn't have to be a very large amount of wine at all. It makes me think I should really try to have a half small glass of wine every other day really, but I never remember.

Large amounts of any alcohol won't do you any good at all, anything that throws off your fluid level balances will put you all over the place. I will say again, I have primary lymphedema, it's hereditary, so this might be very different for secondary.

That's interesting. I have about 2-3 drinks per week. More often craft beer than wine, but I havent noticed a difference either way with my primary lymphoedema.

I enjoy a few glasses of wine a week and have noticed no obvious difference in my arm lymhoedema (secondary).
