You could ask for a second opinion.

Is your Lymphoedema well managed? (Compression etc) Is it secondary lymphoedema? Are you overweight? Are you otherwise healthy- no other medical problems?

Hi,

I have primary both legs and have had both hips replaced.

As long as your Lymphoedema is well controlled before you start and people are alert for infection and deal quickly, it shouldn't be any more dangerous than for anyone else.

If things need to be done they should be done!

I got into my regular compression as soon as possible after the OP ( think it was day 2) and things healed well. I know that if I hadn't have had the ops I would probably be in a wheelchair by now.

Best wishes

Yes from some surgeons. Just do some research. I phoned around until I found one who was willing and not put off by my lympboedema (waist to toes both legs)

I wore compression stocking during the op. On both legs. Antibiotics and lots of MLD before and after which I did myself or paid for. Didn't get much help from LE clinic. Good luck it's well worth it.

I had one hip replacement in 2014 and recently had another by the same surgeon. I have secondary lymphodema in both legs. I had pulsating compression cuffs on both calves after surgery and was put into a side room to help avoid infection. There was never any question of the lymphodema being a problem. The operation has given me a new lease of life, I am back at active work after 10 weeks recovery. I consider myself very fortunate.

Hi so sorry about this issue. I feel your pain. I also have lymphedema in both legs and both hips having excruciating pain. I dont even dare ask about hip surgery. They probanly wont even touch me as I also have a deteriorating spine and scoliosis. I dont know what to do either. Can anyone out there offer us advice based on your experience with hip replacements, Thank you sooo much!
