Lovely to get a parcel in the post, bit of a let down when it's your problem solving compression garments. I've not had any advice on how or when to wear, will I get called in for fitting advice?

Hi, I had to wait and see nurse before I could wear mine as I had to have pulse check and circulation tests done before I could wear mine so I would ask first.

Where are you based? Were you measured for these garments and given a date for fitting? You may need to call your clinic to let them know they have arrived.

What sort of garments are they? Full leg? Tights? Knee high?

I was measured, but I've not even got an appointment card, it seems there may be a drop in clinic at Derby.

Oh it's for my arm, post breast cancer and lymph node clearance.

You could contact your breast cancer nurse - she would be able to advise you.

I will pop in lympho clinic, at hospital for something every week. I've not seen breast cancer nurse since diagnosis, she understands I don't need her support yet, I told her to concentrate on other ladies that do. Always been my own advocate, not afraid of getting on at consultants!

Good to be able to find your way forward but don't waste precious energy when there are clear pathways to help you would be my advice.

We all need to be kind to ourselves.

One of the hospital's in Derby is a centre of excellence carrying out fantastic work so I hope you can get the care you deserve.

I meant that the BCN would have been able to assist you in trying the garment for the first time, but if you are under the care of a lymphoedema clinic, then they can be your first point of contact, especially if they ordered the garment on your behalf.

I was told by my Lymphoedema Nurse that as soon as my tights arrive I should ring her and make a fitting appointment but could wear them before my appointment to see if there was any problems ie any wrinkles that could press into my skin. Mt tights haven't arrived yet but I'm sure you should ring your Lymphoedema Clinic for a fitting as theycant give you an appointment until the said garments arrive. Hope this helps.
