Hi, i would recommend that you take some leaflets into the surgery from LSN to try and encourage your doctors have a better understanding of the condition. And if possible see another doctor. Of course, keeping to a healthy weight is sensible but the distress of living lymphoedema can make us feel very low and then often less careful about our diet. Are you wearing any compression or getting any MLD massage? You don't say if your lymphoedema is primary or secondary. Depending on where your lymphatics are compromised, and whether or not you are wearing compression, and what sort of compression, (full tights or single sleeve?) some people can experience abdominal swelling. You are exercising which is fantastic; but are you wearing compression when exercising? Exercise is essential but it does cause a slightly increased lymphatic flow, so wearing compression when exercising is essential. You should be able to get garments through the NHS. if you don't have them you should find an MLD therapist in your area and she/he will measure you and fill in the forms for you to take to your GP. You can find therapists through the LSN website. NNE
